Shiatsu can play a vital role in keeping your energy in tune with your Tao when physical injuries and emotional imbalance occur. Because Chi stimulation and circulation is so important to health and healing, shiatsu is ideal when you haven’t the energy or ability to sufficiently stimulate your healthful Chi. Even when your family, friend or shiatsu consultant [LINK to preferred P.] activate your Chi, it is your body that will ultimately draw upon its own Chi and Chi circulation system to bring you the health you seek – and allow you to reconnect with your life purpose.

The touch of shiatsu will calm or gently stimulate your Chi while diagnosing and adjusting the amount and types of Chi most affecting your current health. Very much like feng shui in its view of Chi balance and harmony, shiatsu addresses Chi overwhelm, stagnation, and stimulation with appropriate placement. In this case it is human touch interacting with your Chi at specific acupoints and along specific meridians (energy channels) in your body. Harmony of systems and optimum Chi flow remain the goal, and the effect on your life can be just as amazing.

Like feng shui, shiatsu provides a customized view of your health condition. Your “diagnosis” is not seen as a permanent state with one fixed intervention, but as a process, dynamic and changing. Your treatment, therefore, will flow and respond to your changing state. It is understood that your condition is more than just the sum of physical injuries, organ stress, or emotional disequilibrium. To find wellness means to address and heal your whole being. We feel it is not enough to simply return you to comfort and satisfactory health. Our intention is to activate your body Chi to support your fullest self-expression, whatever stage or phase of life you are passing through.

What is shiatsu?

Shiatsu is not massage, although it is soothing and healing touch. Shiatsu is an ancient (and modern) healing practice originating in Japan. Touch, applied along the meridians (energy channels) and acupoints of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, gently accesses the body's vital energy, called Chi, as it flows through the body. By applying pressure at specific points along the Meridians shiatsu will encourage, calm or smooth the flow of Chi through the body to improve the health and function.

What does it treat?

TCM views all illness as an imbalance of Chi. Shiatsu can address and correct Chi imbalance, allowing natural healing to occur. With traumatic injuries such as broken bones, the acute and often severe energy imbalance which results can be modulated by shiatsu for faster and less painful healing. [See FAQ’s LINK]

Can I provide good shiatsu to myself or my partner?

Yes. This is our ideal vision of shiatsu practice. Self-treatment and home practice regimens can be set up and are an ideal way of maintaining awareness and health. For example, asthma sufferers can learn self-treatment to provide effective non-medicated intervention. One of our consultants can set up a customized plan of care including Meridian stretches and acupoint treatments for self/family treatment depending on your situation.

Why does Sanctuary Earth promote Shiatsu?

We believe that peace in the world arises from the peace established in healthy individuals. We have seen successful feng shui and shiatsu treatments bring clients more alive, more true to themselves, and more productive in their lives. A healthy person can express their true nature or Tao most effectively. We believe this is at the root of peace on earth.[Insert link to weblog.]

Do you prefer to practice feng shui or shiatsu?

In fact, shiatsu and feng shui share the same Five Phases of Change method of distinguishing – and making comprehensible – the many expressions and transformations of Chi. Both are focused on the healthy flow and yin/yang balance of chi in the body. Since Feng Shui and Shiatsu can address the same life issues, we the find that the combination is most effective.

Ultimately, Shiatsu and Feng Shui access, develop and maintain the optimum state of Chi in your life. Illness, injury and even the challenges of day-to-day experience can lead to restriction, redirection, or overcharging of the Chi flow in one or more of the meridians and their associated organ systems, ultimately affecting all of life.
